Cal began working life as an artist before side-stepping into animation and motion graphics for various British TV channels. As he experimented with different mediums, he discovered a love for filmmaking, exploring various formats from 35mm film to mobile phone footage.

For the past 15 years, he has worked as a commercials and music video director, shooting for clients around the world. Along the way, he created a series of award-winning short films that ultimately led to the development of WASTEMAN.
 

WASTEMAN is Cal’s debut feature film, which earned him WINNER for Best Debut Director at the 2025 British Independent Film Awards.
